In the first quarter of men's water polo's game at George Washington Friday the No. 14 Tigers were down 5-1 to the inferior Colonials.
Then junior driver Robert Urquhart, (above, No. 4), stepped up and carried Princeton to the victory.
As the Tigers started to gain a rythym and move the ball better, Urquhart started to heat up. The junior from Ann Arbor, Mich. scored 10 goals in the game to lead Princeton to a 12-5 victory over the Colonials.
"After the match he told me he never scored that many goals even in a high school game," senior captain Marshall Roslyn said.
Urquhart scored at least three goals in each of the final three quarters for Princeton, lighting up the scoreboard from all angles and distances from the net.
"Sometimes a player just gets hot," Roslyn said. "He just seemed to be making everything."
His hot streak did not end there, however, as Urquhart recorded hat tricks in each of the Tigers next three games to help Princeton earn solid victories over archrival Navy, Johns Hopkins and Bucknell.
Tomorrow night, Princeton comes back to DeNunzio Pool to battle with Ivy League foe Harvard at 8 p.m. Then over the next two days, the Tigers will play Eastern powerhouses St. Francis and Queens, as well as Iona.
No one is expecting Urquhart to repeat his 10-goal performance again.
But now, no one can doubt the fact that no matter what the score is, Princeton has a player who can light up the board.
