After a discouraging loss to Monmouth dropped it to 0-2 on the season, the men's basketball team needed a shot in the arm. And senior forward Nate Walton was finally healthy enough to provide it.
Though Walton did not score a point in the Tigers' win over Weber State on Friday, he grabbed five rebounds and dished out seven assists. Then, the following day, he scored a career-high 15 points against Ball State.
Walton's 10 rebounds and 10 assists on the weekend led Princeton in both categories, and though he fouled out late in each contest, his defensive presence down low was instrumental in the Tigers' tournament wins — especially against Weber State's tall front line Friday.
With Walton in the lineup, other Princeton players like junior guard Mike Bechtold have had to shoulder less of the scoring load, and if the Tigers are to continue their modest two-game winning streak, Walton's health will be critical.
