Quiet fall Bicker ends as Cap, Ivy and Tower welcome new members

Tower Club held its first fall Bicker in recent years last week, accepting seven new members.

According to Dan Winn '01, the club's president, Tower will likely continue holding fall Bicker in coming years.

He said the decision to have fall Bicker this year was prompted by "a high level of selectivity this past spring combined with some members going abroad for the year" as well as the presence of "a bunch of great people who wanted to be in the club."

He also noted that he believes that Tower is "on an upswing."

Ivy and Cap & Gown clubs each hosted about 40 prospective members, of which Ivy accepted 12 and Cap 15.

Last fall, a total of 64 students bickered Ivy and Cap, of which 31 were accepted.

Winn, who is also the Inter-Club Council president, said he believes this year's fall Bicker was a success.

"The primary concern of the club during Bicker is that Bickerees are treated with dignity and respect," Winn said. "The details of the Bicker process are confidential."

"We had a tremendous group of people bicker the club and the members had to make some really tough choices," Winn said.

Ivy Bicker chair Jamie Odell '01 said that Bicker is "not just games," but mostly about getting to know people.

As in past years, the clubs did not serve alcohol during Bicker.

Odell said that "dry Bicker is definitely much better."

Cap & Gown president Dayna Federici '01 said she enjoyed getting to know the people who came out for Bicker this year.

She referred to Cap & Gown's pool of Bickerees as a "great group of people," echoing Odell's comment that Ivy had a "fantastic group."
