Lazarus '02 chosen for presidential search committee

Lisa Lazarus '02 will be serving with USG president PJ Kim '01 on the search committee charged with finding President Shapiro's successor, Kim said last night.

Lazarus is a Wilson School major and an Orange Key tour guide. She was off-campus last semester studying in Chile.

Lazarus and Kim will be the committee's two undergraduate representatives. In addition, the 18-member committee will comprise nine trustees — who have already been named — five faculty members, one graduate student and one member of the University staff.

Kim said he chose Lazarus from the 100-member applicant pool because he believes she will best help him represent the student body.

"We felt that an important part of our work on the committee would be outreach," Kim said. "The constituencies Lisa will represent will complement the constituencies I'm most in touch with."

Lazarus said she is pleased. "I'm really looking forward to taking in everybody's ideas and representing the student body in the best way possible," she said.
