As a tune-up for some of the spring season's largest meets coming up, the men's track team hosted the Broadmeade Invitational Wednesday — and ran away with several winning performances.
In the 800, junior Tensai Asfaw was victorious with a time of 1 minute, 52.4 seconds. In the 1,500, freshman Jon Bell won with a time of 3:55.9.
In field events, senior Pat McGinley outleaped the competition in the triple jump with an IC4A-qualifying jump of 48 feet, two inches. Junior Dennis Norman had a personal best throw of 167-10 to win the discus. In the shotput, junior Scott Denbo heaved his second-best distance ever, 61-1, to win.
The Tigers host the Princeton Invitational starting tomorrow at Weaver Stadium, as many will seek NCAA-qualifying performances.
