Rally for Hate-Free Princeton held to combat hate speech

After anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, and racist flyers were found posted around campus last week, Princeton Advocates for Justice and a coalition of graduate students held a Rally for a Hate-Free Princeton today in protest. The flyers had been found taped to Stanhope Hall, the Center for Jewish Life, Murray-Dodge Hall, and East Pyne. The rally was held in Firestone Plaza.

Backer ’85 turns himself in after going missing for 1.5 years

Canadian investor and former Olympian Harold Backer ’85 turned himself in to the police after disappearing in November of 2015. Backer, who lived in Victoria, British Columbia, was a former investment dealer and Olympic rower, representing Canada in the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Olympic Games.

U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Judge David Tatel, former Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court Deborah Poritz, and Fordham University Professor of Law Jed Shugerman discussed the issues behind the nomination and confirmation of federal and state judges and proposed solutions to break the partisan logjams in the appointment process.
