Olympics Day 12 Roundup – Johnson ’17 prepares to goal keep for gold

U.S. athlete Donald Cabral ’12 finished in eighth place in his 3,000m steeplechase finals with a final time of 8:25.81. Kenya’s Conseslus Kipruto finished first with a time of 8:03.28, a new Olympic record. At the 2012 Games, Cabral had finished eighth with a time of 8:25.91.

Team USA, including goalkeeper Ashleigh Johnson ’17, defeated Hungary 14-10 in the women’s water polo semifinals. Johnson made eight saves during the match. The U.S. will now face Italy for the gold medal on Friday.

After Day 12 of the Games, two University Olympians and two assistant coaches remain in contention for medals.

Priscilla Frederick, a University assistant women’s track coach, will compete for Antigua and Barbuda in the women’s high jump qualifications at 9:00 a.m. EDT on Day 13 of the Games.
