After competing in Tokyo, Trippas ’22 and Guttormsen ’23 look ahead to season

Two members of the Princeton men’s track and field team represented their home countries in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Ed Trippas, a rising senior, competed for Australia in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sondre Guttormsen, a rising junior, competed for Norway in pole vault. Neither athlete advanced to the finals, but both are set to return to campus this fall.

Mohamed Hamza ’23 finishes seventh in men’s foil at the Olympics

Hamza will fence again in the team men’s foil event on August 1 with his Egyptian teammates, Alaaeldin Abouelkassem and Mohamed Hassan. “I’ll definitely take this momentum into my team event,” he told the ‘Prince,’ “and the following individual Olympic event in Paris 2024 hopefully!”

Despite late start, Princeton rowing teams eye national championship

The COVID-19 pandemic meant that most sports teams have not competed in the past year. On April 24, rowing became the first sport to compete since campus closed last March. Now, the teams have their eyes set on competing in the national championship.

Princeton women’s hockey defeats Cornell for first ECAC title in program history

The No. 6 Princeton women's hockey team won their first ECAC title in program history after defeating No. 1 Cornell 3–2 in overtime. Senior goalie Stephanie Neatby shutout Cornell after the Big Red had scored two goals, and sophomore defender Mariah Keopple scored the winning goal. The Tigers have secured an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Men’s tennis defeats ODU and MTSU, climbs ITA rankings

The Tigers defeated ODU 4–3 and nationally ranked MTSU 4–1. They head to Penn State on Friday and back to Jadwin Gymnasium for Sunday’s matches against William and Mary and NJIT. 

Men’s swimming and diving finishes second at Ivy League Championships

Princeton men’s swimming and diving took home second place at the four-day-long Ivy League Championships in Providence, Rhode Island. Multiple strong performances, across both individual and relay events, allowed the Tigers to accumulate a total of 1231 points. Raunak Kholsa was honored as High Point Swimmer of the meet and Charlie Minns was named Career High Point Diver.

This past weekend, the No. 6 women’s hockey team played its last weekend of the regular season hosting to Ivy League foes, Brown and Yale. Princeton ended the regular season with a sweep before the ECAC Tournament begins.

Softball racks up one win and two losses this past weekend at the Houston tournament

The opening day of the Houston tournament in Houston, Texas saw the softball team split a pair of games — winning against Syracuse 6–4 and losing to Houston 11–1. Louisiana Tech defeated the Tigers 6–3 on the second day of the tournament.
