After months of speculation among Westminster Choir College students, faculty, and alumni about the school’s future, Rider University President Gregory Dell’Omo sent out an email on Feb. 21 announcing that Rider University has signed a non-binding term sheet to transfer ownership of Westminster to Beijing Kaiwen Education Technology Co., Ltd., this spring.

The Department of Homeland Security moved on Nov. 22 to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the University, Microsoft Corporation, and Maria De La Cruz Perales Sanchez ‘18 against the Trump administration. The lawsuit aimed to block the rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Dozens of graduate students, undergraduates, and faculty members gathered on Monday, Nov. 20 in Maeder Hall to discuss a petition demanding that the University elevate its disciplinary action against Sergio Verdú, a Eugene Higgins Professor of Electrical Engineering, who was found guilty of sexual harassment in a Title IX investigation earlier this summer. Over 650 undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni have signed the petition.

On Nov. 6, former President Barack Obama’s presidential appointee Justin Tanner visited the Carl A. Fields Center as a part of University podcast Woke Wednesdays’ first event of the season. In 2015, Obama appointed Tanner as Associate Director for Legislative, Education & Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Commerce.

On Oct. 26, the Princeton Day School Theater put on its first show of “Girls Like That,” a play by Evan Placey that explores the complex gender dynamics in modern adolescence. After the play, activist Monica Lewinsky hosted a talkback with the audience to discuss her own experiences with cyberbullying.
