It’s often said that diamonds are born under immense pressure. This is no different for junior attacker McKenzie Blake, who scored the game-winning goal on Saturday that gave the No. 18 women’s lacrosse team (10–5 overall, 6–1 Ivy League) a crucial win over No. 25 Harvard (10–4, 4–3) in their final regular season game. Princeton’s thrilling 18–17 overtime victory clinched them the No. 2 seed in the Ivy League tournament next weekend.

Coming off a thrilling upset against No. 7 Penn (8–2 overall, 2–1 Ivy League) on Wednesday, the No. 18 women’s lacrosse team (7–3, 3–1) extended their win streak to four against the Columbia Lions (3–8, 0–4) in a dominant 24–12 victory. Led by junior attacker McKenzie Blake, Princeton had nine different goal scorers, propelling the team to second place in the Ivy League conference.

The Tigers were outlasted by the Bulldogs 11–9 in a matchup that saw score changes throughout the rainy game.

In their first game of the 2024 season, the Princeton women’s lacrosse team (0–1 overall, 0–0 Ivy League) fell 14–12 to No. 16 University of Virginia (3–0, 0–0 Atlantic Coast Conference) in a matchup that featured heavy offensive fireworks and standout defensive capabilities from both teams. Despite the loss, the Tigers had eight goal scorers, paced with four tallies by senior attacker Grace Tauckus.

After a successful week with back-to-back wins against Georgetown (6–1–3 overall, 2–0–0 Big East Conference) and Quinnipiac (4–3–0, 2–0–0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) that saw the women’s soccer team (6–1–1, 1–0–0 Ivy League) jump to No. 14 on United Soccer Coaches’ Rankings, Princeton looked to carry forward their momentum into their highly anticipated Ivy Opener against the Cornell Big Red (2–1–4, 0–1–0). The Tigers won 4–2, backed by an early lead that proved too much for the Big Red to handle.
