The Tigers (5-4 overall, 4-2 Ivy League) are officially out of Ivy title contention after losing 44-30 to Yale this weekend. While already at a disadvantage, with their fate in Harvard’s hands after a loss on Homecoming weekend, the Tiger loss this weekend ended any hope of recovering to earn a share of the title.

It wasn’t always pretty, but the Tigers (5-3 overall, 4-1 Ivy) got it done when it counted and came out of Saturday’s matchup against Penn with a 22-17 win to keep their hopes of an Ivy title alive. Twenty-two points may not seem like a lot for an offense that has shown explosive potential almost all season, but it was enough in the end as the defense stepped up to frustrate the Penn offense all afternoon.

After being embarrassed on their home field last weekend in the homecoming matchup against Harvard, it was unclear how the Tigers would respond with more than half of their Ivy season left to play. However, the Tigers (4-3 overall, 3-1 Ivy League) showed they had a short memory and displayed their resolve as they put the loss behind them to earn a 38-27 win over Cornell this weekend.

After two consecutive years of dramatic finishes and Roman Wilson ’14 touchdown catches, last year’s Ivy co-champions will go head-to-head this weekend, with the winner remaining in control of his own fate in pursuit of this year’s title. Coming off a 27-16 home victory over Brown, the Tigers (3-2, 2-0 Ivy) look to remain undefeated in the Ivy League when they host Harvard on Saturday for homecoming weekend.

Princeton (3-2 overall, 2-0 Ivy League) started a series of six Ivy League games with a 27-16 home victory over Brown (2-3, 0-2) on Saturday, leaving them tied atop the Ivy League standings with Harvard and Dartmouth with an undefeated 2-0 league record. They improve to 3-2 overall with the win.

After a disappointing 31-30 loss last weekend to Colgate University, the Tigers (2-2 overall, 1-0 Ivy) are looking to open a six-week stretch of Ivy League games strong against Brown. Princeton comes into Saturday undefeated in conference play, but still one win behind Harvard and Dartmouth for first in the Ivy League. Brown is tied for fifth with an 0-1 League record after losing to Harvard.

Despite an impressive 16-0 first quarter, the Tigers could not hold on and fell to Colgate 31-30 in their final non-league game of the season. They will continue Ivy League play with a 2-2 overall, 1-0 Ivy record.

While Colgate University has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the Raiders and the Tigers (2-1 overall, 1-0 Ivy League), the two times the Tigers did pull out the victory they went on to win Ivy League titles. Princeton’s last win over Colgate came in 2006 in a game that was eventually decided 27-26 in overtime.

Despite glimmers of rhythm reminiscent of last season, the Tigers showed rust from a summer apart in their season opener on Saturday when they headed to California to take on the University of San Diego. The Tigers dropped their eighth consecutive season opener 39-29.

Full of hopes of emulating last year’s success, Princeton football will start its season with a trip across the country to face the University of San Diego. Coming off the first football Ivy League title the Tigers have seen in seven years, they will now embark on their first trip to California since 2004, looking to start their season with a win.

Despite a slow start to the season, men’s volleyball claimed their first victory of the 2013-2014 season with a Valentine’s Day 3-0 victory over Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rival Sacred Heart. After four straight 2-3 losses to open the season, the Tigers were in desperate need of some momentum as they played their second league opponent of the season.

Princeton women’s basketball team started its season on an unconventional note, as a technical foul was called on the Princeton bench before the game even started due to a scorebook error, leaving the Tigers with a 2-0 deficit before the game officially began. The afternoon would not improve much for the Tigers (0-1), as they would fall to Rutgers (1-0) 79-65 in their season opener.

After being named the Sports Network FCS National Offensive Player of the Week and Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week following his record-breaking performance in Princeton’s triple-overtime 51-48 win over Harvard last weekend, junior quarterback Quinn Epperly continued to break records. Epperly completed 29 consecutive passes to start Princeton’s 53-20 victory over Cornell on Saturday, setting a new FCS record. With this win and Penn’s loss to Brown, the Tigers (6-1 overall, 4-0 Ivy League) now stand alone atop the Ivy League standings.

The Tigers (3-1 overall, 1-0 Ivy League) will play their final six games of the season against Ivy League opponents, starting with a trip to Providence to face Brown (3-1, 0-1) this weekend. Despite currently being part of a three-way tie for last in the Ivy League, Brown has won its last two games, and its only loss this season was to Harvard, who stands atop many Ivy League statistical categories.

After a convincing victory over Columbia last weekend, the football team has attained its first winning record through three games since 2008 and currently holds a two-game win streak. Princeton’s (2-1 overall, 1-0 Ivy League) offense has proven that it has the explosive potential head coach Bob Surace ’90 desired with consecutive 50-point wins; however, with the toughest part of the Tigers’ schedule yet to come, how far that will take them is yet to be determined.
