“For ... a student or a faculty member who [is] leading a pretty sedentary lifestyle, the easiest thing to do is just walk,” Crane said. “It’s very low-impact, there’s not a very big injury risk, [and] you can do it easily on campus.”
According to its website, the Healthier Princeton Program “offers an integrated approach to health promotion and education, disease detection and prevention, and fitness and wellness services for the University community.” The integrated project resulted from the Task Force on Health and Well-Being created by President Tilghman in 2003.
The walking event was supported by the University’s offices of human resources and parking and transportation.
“At the end of the day it’s a huge benefit for the University to have more of the community ... being active,” Crane said.
Plans for another event for this spring are underway to continue what will hopefully become a semiannual event, Crane said.
