From the Ivy League to the Olympic stage, Caroline Park ’11 has continued to play hockey at an elite level. Following her career as a Tiger, Park hoped to continue playing hockey, and she earned a spot on the combined Korean National Team. The Daily Princetonian caught up with Park following the Olympics to learn more about her experience.

Men’s track and field is poised to have an outstanding season. The team is starting its outdoor season coming off a hot win at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Not only was this the Tiger’s fourth consecutive Heps title win, but they won Heps by the largest margin in race history, beating out second place Penn by 68 points. The team also won the cross-country Ivy title and the NCAA mid-Atlantic regional title last fall. At HEPs, Princeton dominated nearly every event, with particularly strong performances in mid-distance, distance, and jumping events. Particularly impressive was the mile, where seniors Garrett O’Toole and Noah Kauppila finished first and second, respectively, within half a second of each other.

The Winter Olympics, hosted in Pyeongchang, South Korea, officially closed on Saturday night. The United States finished fourth in the medal count, with 23 medals, well behind Norway’s first place at 39. But for many Olympians such as Caroline Park ’11, the journey is about much more than winning a medal.

Men’s hockey faces Brown (6–13–4 overall, 5–10–1 ECAC) and Yale (11–11–1, 6–9–1) this weekend, with six games of ECAC play remaining. The team is coming in on a four-game win streak, with solid wins over Clarkson (19–6–3, 11–3–2), Quinnipiac (11–13–4, 6–8–2), St. Lawrence (6–20–2, 2–13–1), and Dartmouth (9–12–2, 7–8–1).

First-year Obiageri Amaechi joins the track and field team as one of the nation’s most coveted recruits. Her personal best discus throw (177 ft) ranks fourth amongst the Class of 2021. Amaechi is also a force to be reckoned with for shot put, where she is 10th in the country. This summer, Amaechi competed for Team USA at the 2017 Pan American Junior Championships, and took fourth in discus.

Princeton men’s basketball will face University of Miami this Saturday at 8 p.m. The team will compete at a neutral location in Miami, where the Tigers will have the opportunity to test an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent before entering Ivy League play in the New Year.

First-year Sophie Cantine’s college career is off to a speedy start. At the Paul Short Invitational last weekend, Cantine finished first among the Princeton Tigers, with an impressive time of 20:38 in the 6K race. All the more impressive, this was Cantine’s first-ever 6K, since high school cross country only features the 5K race.

Women’s cross-country anticipates a strong showing at tomorrow’s annual Paul Short race. The team is off to a solid start, with fast performances at its early season meets. The team took the gold in last weekend’s annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton (HYP) meet, with its five scoring runners all finishing within the top 10. Particularly exciting is the close spread of the times between team members, showcasing the team’s outstanding depth and potential.
