The final season of Nickelodeon's
Legend of Korra is underway! Since the end of Season 3, three years have passed and the world has adapted to its missing Avatar. Yet, as the Air nomads have attempted to keep the peace, all is not well in the Earth Kingdom. In the absence of Korra, Team Avatar is fragmented -- each person doing their own thing. Let's check out what's occurred in the first two episodes of the season.
Episode 1
A new villain has arrived in town -- Kuvira. With the Earth Kingdom in chaos following the murder of the Earth Queen, Kuvira -- the Great Uniter -- seeks to restore order. As the Great Uniter, she is going to all of the Earth Kingdom states and coercing them to join her. In this episode, we get a glimpse of how members of Team Avatar are living: Bolin is working for Kuvira, Mako is acting as a bodyguard for the Earth Kingdom's Prince Wu, Asami and Future Industries are thriving. At the end of the episode, we get a glimpse of what Avatar Korra is up to in the Earth Kingdom -- setting the stage for Episode 2.
Episode 2
This episode starts to answer the mystery of where Korra has been and what she has done these past three years. Although she has recovered physically with the help of Katara, her psychological wounds are still deep. She haunted by...well, it isn't clear what's haunting her. One could say that she's hallucinating and Korra is facing her Avatar self. In search of a remedy for her wounded psyche, Korra is coming up short. Hopefully her new haircut will help her find herself. Toward the end of the episode, Korra is led into the Spirit World and encounters a Team Avatar alum -- leaving the audience with more unanswered questions.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 4 have not disappointed us. While nothing substantive has been revealed, we can tell that there will be many conflicts during the final season of Legend of Korra. If you haven't watched either of these, and would like to jump into the Avatar world, watch them on Nick's website. Episode 3 comes out this Friday, October 17th.
