Get ready for the funk, guys. This Saturday, Terrace is hosting Vulfpeck -- a band from Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. Upon their founding, Vulfpeck's aim was to channel the sound of session musicians that laid the instrumental tracks for Motown records in the 1960's; ie. The Funk Brothers.
The band released their first EP in 2011 Mit Peck, which features this gem.
[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKg_3kyIhHc]Their latest EP, Fugue State, was released this August and features the minimalistic sound they've been known for. There are no fancy recording tricks or overbearing arrangements. Just some solid grooves and lots of energy.
Three of the members recently supported fellow University of Michigan alum Darren Criss on his national tour and their bass player, Joe Dart, has been critically acclaimed for his abilities.
The ingenious bastards put up a silent album on Spotify called Sleepify and gained $20,000 before Spotify noticed they were giving them royalties for silence.
