Princeton students releasing demands on University's mishandling of Katz case; COVID-19 vaccination inequities

OPINION: Princeton Students for Title IX Reform and the Organizing Committee of Princeton Graduate Students United criticize the University’s response to allegations against Joshua Katz. In response to the administration’s failure of accountability in protecting students and “the confirmation of the University’s total disregard for the safety of students who are vulnerable to sexual misconduct and harassment more generally,” they have released demands they believe will create a safer campus climate.

OPINION: Columnist Brittani Telfair argues that normalized sensational coverage and consumption of acts of violence dehumanizes victims while continuing historical patterns of devaluing the lives of people of color. Media coverage and social media posts have “contributed to the collective numbing” where they “do not recognize the humanity of the victims nor encourage us to view them in humane ways. Victims become props — unfortunate bodies in the path of a mass shooter who is profiled in excruciating detail.”
