While the semester may be winding down, the women’s basketball season is in full swing, as some of the teams are beginning to get their first tastes of Ivy League play. Based on performances so far, this year’s battle for the crown could very well prove to be a dogfight down to the very end.
Another year, another thrilling victory for the men’s basketball team against Ivy League rival, the University of Pennsylvania Quakers.
The last time the women’s hockey team failed to pick up a win, Thanksgiving had not yet rolled around. In their most recent stories of success, they completed season sweeps over Brown and Yale to conclude a six game homestand.
While much of the student body was home relaxing for their winter break, the men’s hockey team would take to the ice three times during that time span. Competing both at home and on the road, they would fall in all their games to the Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Holy Cross Crusaders.
They say that for Californians, the transition from the sunny west coast to the blistering blizzards of the east can be a difficult one. We noticed, however, that one Californian in particular seemed to be faring well despite the drastic temperature change. That person was the women’s tennis team’s Dorothy Tang, whose bright smile and pleasant demeanor could warm even the darkest of January days. The Daily Princetonian sat down with her to talk about tennis, her home state and her vast assortment of nicknames.
After stellar performance after stellar performance during his senior season, and indeed, throughout his career as a Tiger, forward Thomas Sanner now looks to take his talents to the next level.
This past Friday, the men of Princeton wrestling played host to Navy, a team against whom the Tigers have found little success in decades past. Despite a valiant fight that was filled twists and turns, the Orange and Black came away unsuccessful in a tight loss to the Midshipmen.
After an encouraging victory against Lipscomb University down in Nashville, Tenn., the men’s basketball team looks to continue its newfound momentum as it takes on Liberty University back at Jadwin Gymnasium on Thursday night.
The women’s ice hockey team continues to impress during this season, as they finished 2015 by extending their current win streak to six games. Defending their home turf of Baker Rink on the weekend, they came out on top in a double-header as they defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions to the tune of 4-0 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday.
At the end of back-to-back-to-back weekends on the road, the men’s basketball team found success in their second-to-last road trip before winter break. Traveling to the Music City of Nashville, Tenn., they took down Lipscomb University 78-64.
Dearest Princetonians, you have reached, if you will, the home stretch of your regular season. With classes just a week and a half away from winding down, you may, as I do, begin to wonder in vain why we have been allotted merely two weeks of rest and relaxation instead of three, as has been the case in years past. How, you may ask, will be the most productive way to spend your holidays? Preparing for Dean’s Date? Getting a head start on your upcoming exams?
After getting off to as strong of a start as they had seen in a long time, the men’s basketball team was dealt its first loss of the season this past Saturday, falling on the road 77-91 to the Stony Brook Seawolves and star forward Jameel Warney, the reigning back-to-back American East Player of the Year.
In a gym teeming with Tiger supporters, the Princeton women’s basketball team defended their home court against their opponents of the north, as they took down the University of Michigan Wolverines (7-1) to the tune of 74-57 on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, they end Michigan’s status as undefeated on the season.

The Princeton women’s basketball team, in a resounding rebound from its 64-71 loss to Seton Hall a week earlier, earned three convincing wins over Thanksgiving break.
Take a flashback with me for a moment. It’s 2013, and your favorite Sports Editor is riding on Cloud Nine after his beloved hometown team has had their best season in years. The New York Knicks — a longtime source of shame for many in the Big Apple — had absolved themselves of the previous decade’s disappointments. With a record of 54-28, and a long-overdue trip to the conference semifinals, the team had finally become something that all of us could look upon with pride.
As the majority of Princetonians relaxed at home after gut-busting amounts of Turkey, the men’s hockey team took their talents to the far north to do battle against the University of Maine. Although both of the teams’ two contests resulted in close struggles, the Tigers were unable to come out ahead in either, falling 3-5 both times.
Just a year ago, the men of the Princeton water polo team found themselves heartbroken after a grueling loss to Brown to end the season, in the game that decided who would represent the CWPA in the NCAA Tournament. This time around, they found the sweet, sweet redemption for which they had waited so long.
The Princeton football team, after a rollercoaster trip through Ivy League play this season, had their final game of 2015 this past Saturday, in which they lost 10-17 to the Dartmouth Big Green in Hanover, N.H.
