In a press release sent earlier today, the Municipality of Princeton announced that there have been 10 total cases of COVID-19 among Princeton residents. At least three of these individuals are over 65 years old, and one individual is a University student.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, several town organizations have followed the University in canceling, postponing, or virtually conducting previously planned events. Over recent days, local schools and businesses have enacted a slew of new procedures.

On Wednesday evening at 7:46 p.m., the University announced all undergraduate students “who are able” must return home and stay there until the end of the semester. Dean of the College Jill Dolan’s and Vice President for Campus Life Rochelle Calhoun’s letter, sent to all students, enumerated specific criteria students would have to meet in order to remain on campus. Students who do not fall into these criteria and register with the University will lose prox access by March 19.

On Tuesday, March 3, the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and mental health advocacy club Letters to Strangers (L2S) released their 30-page Mental Health Guidebook, a compilation of University mental health resources, student testimonials, and information about important policies like leaves of absences and insurance plans. It also provides information on how to seek help off-campus.

Anthony D. Romero ’87 and Kip Thorne GS ’65 have been selected as the 2020 recipients of the University’s top alumni awards, the Woodrow Wilson Award and the James Madison Medal, respectively. Both will speak on Alumni Day on Feb. 22, 2020.

Two Undergraduate Student Government (USG) referenda have been announced, one regarding a change to the current pass/D/fail (PDF) policy, and another calling for the implementation of a standing Sustainability Committee. Students will be able to vote for them from Dec. 9 to 11 before they can be presented to the appropriate administrations.

In its Nov. 17 meeting, the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) affirmed the language of three referendums regarding the Pass / D / Fail (P/D/F) system, a proposed standing Sustainability Committee, and a call to the University to investigate the quality and ease-of-use of the paper used in examinations. The sponsors will begin collecting signatures tomorrow.

Three days a week, Cadet Gabriel Peña ’23 wakes up at 5:30 a.m. and makes the mile trip to Jadwin Gymnasium for physical training (PT). By 8:00, he’s in the dining hall for breakfast and then on his way to a 9:00 a.m. class. Peña’s schedule is roughly similar to that of the 47 other cadets in Princeton’s Army ROTC.
