On Friday, the women’s volleyball team fell to Harvard 3-1 in the playoff match for the NCAA automatic bid. The Tigers, who started out the season 0-3, had an incredible comeback over the course of the season, becoming the first team to come back from such a start to win the Ivy League Title.

Saturdayafternoon, the men’s soccer team finished out the season as the senior class led the team to a dominant 3-0 victory over Yale. The game was in honor of the nine-member senior class, and so it was fitting that the three goals of the game were all scored by seniors.

The Princeton Women’s Soccer Team will begin play in the NCAA tournament when it hosts Boston College on Saturday, Nov. 14, in its first NCAA tournament game since 2012. The match is the first NCAA tournament game in Princeton since 2004 and the first at Roberts Stadium, which opened in 2008.

The women’s volleyball team has a big weekend ahead, with four home matches over the next week that will either make or break their chase for the Ivy League title. The Tigers (9-8 overall, 4-4 Ivy League) will face off against Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend before taking on Yale and Brown the next. These four teams stand between the Tigers and the Ivy League title.

This weekend was a tough but exciting one for the men’s tennis team, which competed in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional at Yale over the weekend, despite the unfortunate timing of the event coinciding with midterms. The Tigers played notably well, with sophomore Diego Vives reaching the singles quarterfinals and the dynamic duo of junior Alex Day and sophomore Luke Gamble powering through into the tournament semifinals.

On Friday, the sprint football team lost to Cornell University, falling to 0-3 on the season. The Tigers pushed hard to keep up with the Big Red (3-2) during the first half of the game, but Cornell scored a pair of touchdowns during the third quarter to pull away, with a final score of 52-18.

The Tigers extended their undefeated streak to four games Saturday with an impressive win over the visiting Colgate Raiders, 44-22. The last two times Princeton started the season 4-0, in 2006 and 1995, the Tigers went on to win the Ivy League Championship. The Tigers’ victory was marked with a strong offensive showing, as they moved the ball a total of 556 yards, despite missing several notable players on offense to injury.

In an unprecedented move, the University and IMG announced a new multi-year rights representation agreement on Aug. 6. The deal gives IMG rights to the marketing of all advertising and sponsorship inventory for all 38 varsity programs and over 1000 athletes, as well as the production of radio broadcasts for football, men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse. According to the press releases, IMG will also look to develop multi-school sponsorships that include Princeton and Rutgers University, another school that IMG works with.

While at Princeton, Soren Thompson '05 managed to balance academics with dominating the fencing world both in the NCAA and on the international stage, making his first Olympic campaign before graduation. In 2004, Thompson became the first American in 48 years to make it to the epee semifinals, defeating the No. 1 ranked fencer in the world along the way. He returned to the Olympics in 2012 after a serious injury prevented him from competing in 2008. Thompson sat down with the Daily Princetonian to discuss balancing competition with academics and the course of his athletic career.

Carol Brown ’75 was a trailblazer for women’s sports both at Princeton and on a national scale. Starting her athletic career before the implementation of Title IX, Brown championed women’s sports at Princeton and was the first alumna to earn an Olympic medal. Princeton's motto is "In the nation's service and the service of all nations," and very few alumni have lived up to this statement as much as former Senator Bill Bradley '65 has. Bradley played on the basketball team while at Princeton and went on to play professionally for the New York Knicks before becoming a New Jersey senator, a position which he held for three terms. The Daily Princetonian sat down with the former Senator to reflect upon his athletic and professional careers at the dawn of his 50th Reunion.

This week has been a big one for the Princeton women’s softball team, who finish their season ranked second in the Ivy League South Division. The Tigers (22-18 overall, 10-9 Ivy League) finished just behind Penn after winning one game against Yale and splitting two doubleheaders against Cornell last weekend.

This weekend, the Princeton softball team dropped three of the four games played in two doubleheaders at Penn. The Tigers (15-22 overall, 7-7 Ivy League) are currently ranked second to Penn (19-17 overall, 10-6 Ivy League) in the Ivy League South Division. The two teams went into the weekend tied for first place.
