As Biden pardons cannabis offences, Princeton town refuses to welcome dispensaries

CANNABIS IN TOWN: On Thursday, President Biden pardoned individuals convicted of possession of marijuana on federal criminal records. But in the town of Princeton, locals don’t seem as eager to move forward on the issue of cannabis. On May 17, the Princeton Town Council decided to disband its Cannabis Task Force (CTF), ending the group’s long-debated proposal to license a marijuana dispensary in the town. “This was the opportunity for the town of Princeton to lead, to address the long history of racial inequities and cannabis prohibition,” Udi Ofer, a visiting professor at SPIA, told the ‘Prince.’ “And they just decided to do nothing, which is very disappointing.”

FIELD HOCKEY: On Wednesday, the Princeton women’s field hockey team (8–4, 2–0 Ivy) finished their non-league play with a 6–1 win against the Monmouth Hawks (4–7, 1–1 Colonial). The Tigers face their final five games of the season and return home to play Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 12 p.m.
