Farmers market moves closer to campus, making produce more accessible to University community

PRINCETON’S FARMERS MARKET: With the movement of the Princeton Farmers Market to the Dinky parking lot, the access to produce and other products for the University community has increased. The market currently partners with 21 vendors, each scheduled on an alternating basis to provide new options each week. It also supports local artists. The market will be open every Thursday until Nov. 17.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION PRESIDENT CRASHES ICE CREAM SOCIAL: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made a surprise appearance at a Davis International Center social event for international students on Friday, Sept. 23. Von der Leyen, who delivered a speech at Princeton on Thursday, spoke with students, took selfies, and gave career advice to attendees. “The encounter had me taken aback at how crazy this university is, and the extent of its reputation across the world,” said Seppe De Pauw ’24, an international student from Belgium.

FREE SPEECH PROTECTION: 

In her inaugural column, Eleanor Clemans-Cope argues that Princeton’s free speech policy doesn’t protect progressives. MEN’S SOCCER: The men’s soccer team’s momentum was brought to halt with a 2–1 loss against St. John’s. Despite a valiant effort and a 77th-minute goal by senior forward Daniel Diaz Bonilla, Princeton was unable to make it to a draw. The team will be traveling to Dartmouth this Saturday for the Ivy Opener.

FOOTBALL: In the Ivy League Opener this Saturday, the Tigers (2–0) are looking to carry on their winning streak in their first conference game of this season against Colombia (2–0). The Tigers have started out strong with wins against Stetson and Lehigh and are looking to bring the same energy and passion to the opener. With the knowledge and lessons learned from the first two games, the Tigers hope to continue to improve their play throughout the year. Kickoff will happen at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 in New York and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
