The USG budget tripled this fall from the typical $200,000 to approximately $600,000; the surplus is for pandemic-related expenses. Significant spending areas include Tigers in Town, Lawnparties, and a renovation to the USG office located in Frist Campus Center, with budget allocations of $200,000, $160,000, and $150,000, respectively. Lawnparties will take place on Oct. 3, hosted by the Inter-Club Council and the USG Senate Social Committee.

One week into classes, some students have already gone through the University’s contact tracing process. Some students have critiqued the University’s contact tracing program for being unclear and uncomprehensive. But so far, “based on contact tracing and analysis,” viral transmission at the University does not seem to be an issue, according to Deputy University Spokesperson Michael Hotchkiss. As of Sept. 5, approximately 98 percent of the undergraduate student body and 96 percent of the University’s employees are vaccinated.
