Opinion Columnist Allen Liu argues that the ubiquitous partying and “pre-gaming” among the undergraduate student body underscores the need to change the culture to better promote student wellbeing. Reflecting on the sights of students waiting in long lines for hours to gain entrance into crowded eating clubs, Liu believes that such scenes of desperation highlight the psychological need to party that stems from the intensive academic and extracurricular environment at the University.

“While more intense social activities like partying can be a part of our lives, they shouldn’t be our only relief from stress or replace actual self-care,” writes Liu.
