Some thesis research to occur on campus in summer 2021; Common Application announces question changes

Todays Briefing: 

On Wednesday, a memo sent to students by Dean of the College Jill Dolan and Vice President for Campus Life Rochelle Calhoun announced that on-campus programs and housing for summer 2021 will be restricted to senior thesis research that requires laboratory access or other special resources. The announcement also stated that most summer internship opportunities offered on campus will take place remotely.

On Feb. 24, the Common Application announced changes to the application related to questions about gender identity and legal sex. The changes will take effect for the 2021–2022 application season and are meant to allow students to express themselves properly as they apply for colleges and universities.

  • SPORTS:  It’s March Madness! The ‘Prince’ explores men’s basketball’s only trip to the Final Four in 1965, speaking with alums Don Rodenback ’66 and Bill Howard ’64.
  • THE PROSPECT: At a Feb. 23 virtual talk for the Program in Media and Modernity, artist Antoni Muntadas spoke about the ways in which fear manifests itself in media and the environment. Through his presentation, Mutadas opened up the meaning of fear as more than just an emotion.
  • OPINION: Kirsten Keels ’21 argues for the value of mutual aid campaigns through sharing her own experience. “I write this article for two purposes: to genuinely thank everyone for their help, financial or otherwise, and to urge the most privileged among us to do more.”
