Firestone metal carrels to be replaced with personal lockers, open carrels this fall - News
| May 07, 2013Instead of the blue metal carrels in Firestone Library, which have traditionally been reserved for seniors in the humanities and social sciences as they write their theses, members of the Class of 2014 in these disciplines will be assigned personal lockers. The current carrels will be replaced by unassigned open carrels as a result of Firestone’s eight-year renovation, slated for completion in 2018.

A rare manuscript of George Frideric Handel’s 1736 opera “Berenice,” purchased by the University for 44,450 British pounds at an auction last November, will be available for viewing at a special exhibition in Firestone Library until March 4. The display is part of the upcoming American Handel Society Festival hosted by the American Handel Society and the University’s Department of Music, to take place at the University from Feb. 21-24.
