Down by almost 30 points to Cornell with only a few events left in the Ivy League Championships on Sunday at Weaver Stadium, the Tiger men’s chase for the title was shaping up to be a repeat of the narrow loss at indoor Heps. This weekend, however, the Tigers made sure that they did not lose. Princeton gained momentum and steadily erased Cornell’s advantage, and then they pulled away to win 190-162.

Competing under the sun in Penn’s packed Franklin Field in the triple jump championship Saturday at the Penn Relays, junior Damon McLean tuned out the screaming and cheering as he focused on each of his attempts. After finishing second at this meet last year, McLean was determined to win and take home a gold Penn Relays watch. Bounding down the runway on his second try, McLean blasted out a wind-aided 15.95 meters, or 52 feet, four inches — and bested the rest of the field by half a foot. -
In her first open 400-meter race of the outdoor season at the George Mason Patriot Open Invitational in Virginia last Saturday, sophomore Cecilia Barowski did not have high expectations. Still, when the gun sounded, Barowski took off fast. Driving over the final meters, Barowski took fourth in the competitive race, as she stopped the clock in 54.30 seconds — setting a new Princeton program record. -
Jamaican junior jumper Damon McLean has had quite the year, coming in 14th place at the indoor NCAA Championships for the triple jump, becoming an indoor Ivy League champion for both the triple and long jump and making second-team All-America Indoor for the triple jump. He sat down with The Daily Princetonian to discuss what he thinks about while he’s jumping, his team and his love for music and Nike Frees.

In 2011, the men’s track and field team ended nearly a decade of Big Red dominance, sweeping both the Indoor and Outdoor Heptagonal Championships to complete a triple crown of cross country, indoor and outdoor Ivy League titles.
