    The New Jersey Assembly voted 42-33 on Thursday to legalize same-sex marriage in the state.

    The State Senate had approved the bill on Monday by a vote of 24-16, and the bill will now be sent to Gov. Chris Christie.

Rush Holt announced on Monday that the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education will receive a sizable grant under the federal Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs program. The grant is expected to be extended for six years, and the state will receive $3,978,424 in its first year.
