It’s been a busy semester for senior fencer Eliza Stone. After winning the NCAA individual and team title fewer than two months ago, Stone was part of a four-person U.S. saber team that won gold over 18 other nations at the Korfanty Saber World Cup last Sunday in Chicago.

Finishing fourth in the nation, behind top scholarship schools Duke, Penn State and St. John’s, is pretty impressive. The men's and women's fencing teams did just that this season, and the Tigers' fourth-place finish tied their best in program history, matching a feat they accomplished in the 1990s.

The men’s and women’s fencing teams have placed fourth at the NCAA Championships at Ohio State University this past weekend, tying for the best finish the teams have had with the current scoring format.

During what head coach Zoltan Dudas has called an “interesting” season, the Tigers had an exciting weekend of competition at the 2011 Ivy League Fencing Championships in Jadwin Gymnasium. After two days of fierce fencing, the women’s team swept its opponents, finishing with a 6-0 record and defending its Ivy League title. The men’s team fought through narrow losses to finish fourth behind Harvard, Yale and Penn.
