Unfamiliar Street: Takeshita Street, Tokyo, Japan

“Unfamiliar Street” is a travel series in which we introduce you to streets from all around the world, far from the well-trod gravel of Prospect Avenue. Architect Toshiko Mori once said, “More than any other city, Tokyo demonstrates that ‘city’ is a verb and not a noun.” I was able to see for myself what she was talking about when I took a trip to Tokyo over fall break.

When your band includes a conservatory-trained violinist on lead guitar, a lead vocalist with an obsession for Carole King and jazz and members who formerly belonged to soft indie and screamo groups, you can only imagine the musical mélange brought to the table but also the possible difficulties of coming together harmoniously.

Anya Marina Princeton Tower Club, 1:30 p.m. Anya Marina started taking center stage when her songs began appearing on popular shows such as "GossipGirl," "How I Met Your Mother," "Grey’s Anatomy" and "The Vampire Diaries," among many others.Beyond that, she has toured with the likes of Jason Mraz, The Plain White T’s, Spoon,Eric Hutchinson and Greg Laswell.

Wanted: Unpaid intern

As the snow piles against my dorm entrance and my daily dance with the hellish black ice continues to provide endless entertainment for the squirrels, I dream of warmer weather, summer sunshine and shorts (really, all I want is to wear shorts). But alongside my dreams of relaxation comes my growing anxiety for the seemingly endless round of applications for internships.
