In fall 2013, Princeton became the first school district in New Jersey to mandate headgear for soccer players. The policy also included field hockey and girls’ lacrosse, but the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association did not approve any of the district’s proposed headgear units for the two sports in the 2013-14 academic year, Princeton High School Athletic Director John Miranda said.

Former White House Cabinet Secretary Christopher Lu ’88 will speak at this year's Baccalaureate ceremony on June 1, the University announced Friday morning. Norman Augustine GS ’59, former chairman and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin, will speak at the Hooding ceremony for advanced-degree candidates on June 2.

Almost 60 percent of the students accepted to Tiger Inn this spring are male. This number represents a slight decrease in the number of new male members compared to last spring, when the number of male students accepted to TI represented 62.5 percent of the new membership.

Titled "A Little Valentine's Day Straight Talk," the piece appeared in The Wall Street Journal on Feb. 13 and is linked to Patton's upcoming book, which will be released in March.

Despite an increase in the number of bickerees, the overall acceptance rate for selective clubs was higher than last year's with 63.7 percent, or 563 of 884 students, accepted. Last spring, the clubs took 62 percent, or 515 of 831 bickerees.

Cap & Gown Club was the most selective and most bickered eating club for the second year in a row after accepting 46 percent of bickerees.Cap accepted 98 of its 213 bickerees this year, including 96 sophomores and two juniors.

The University received a total of 26,607 applications for the Class of 2018, the highest number it has received since the reinstatement of the single-choice early action program with the Class of 2016. The applicant pool is the third highest in the University’s history, the University said in a press release.
