The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in their first home meet of the indoor season this past Saturday, Dec. 11 at Jadwin Gym. Competing against the Tigers were runners from Monmouth, Penn, Rider, and the College of New Jersey. The teams split a total of 14 first and second place finishes between their runners, proving that the program is certainly ready for a successful season to come.

The Princeton men’s and women’s fencing teams, along with five other schools, were welcomed by Vassar College at the Walker Field House for the 2017 Tradition Multi-Meet this past Sunday. Both Tiger teams were extremely successful, going undefeated against some of the nation’s very best competition. It was a two-day tournament, but the Tigers only joined in for the second day of competition, fencing in four dual matches against Sacred Heart, NYU, Penn State and the host Brewers.

The Princeton women’s hockey team (2-7-3) was quite busy this Thanksgiving break, traveling all the way to North Andover, Mass. to play in a two-game set against Merrimack College (6-10-3). While the Tigers put forth their best efforts over the holiday break, a win against Merrimack is one fewer thing the Tigers have to be thankful for.

The Princeton men’s and women’s hockey teams faced tough losses this past weekend in games that both ended in complete shutouts. The women matched up against Clarkson University and the men’s team faced off against the Brown Bears at home.

Junior Gabi Forrest sprinted across the finish line at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet last Friday in third place, after an incredible kick to the finish. At the 3,500 meter mark of the race, Forrest was in 19th place and few might have guessed that she would end up in third just a few minutes later. The moment she fled by her spectating teammates, one of them asserted, “Oh Gabi’s got this.” Lo and behold, Forrest sprinted through the finish line gunning for the bronze medal — a full 16 places higher than her last marker. Her finishing time of 20:12 was 34 seconds faster than the 20:46 race she ran at the same exact course just a few weeks earlier at the start of the season.

Saturday night was a successful one on both ends of the rink for the Princeton men’s hockey team in their game against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). The Tigers flaunted their team's incredible depth and unity, with thirteen players gaining points, including a few collegiate firsts for some freshmen. The Tigers clutched a 6-2 win and improved to 2-2-1 (1-2-1 ECAC), while the Engineers dropped to 2-5-3 (1-4-1 ECAC).

The Princeton women's cross country team has had quite a season and continues to pursue success at the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional this Friday, Nov. 10 on Lehigh University's campus in Bethlehem, Penn. Tiger ladies will step up to the starting line for a brutal 6K race at 10:45 a.m. Only the top two teams in the race will continue to the NCAA championship meet, which will be held Nov. 15 in Louisville, Ky. The Tigers are currently ranked fifth in the national poll of the Mid-Atlantic Region, so placing top two in the race won’t be easy. But, it is definitely a possibility for the Tiger ladies.

The No. 14 Princeton women’s field hockey team (11-6 overall, 7-0 Ivy) has defeated Penn (9-8, 4-3) in 13 consecutive match ups, but the Tigers' victory over the Quakers this past weekend held even larger significance: not only did the team continue its streak against an historic rival, but the Orange and Black also claimed their 25th Ivy League title. This victory is a channel to the team's 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance, which will take place on Nov. 11 against No. 4 Virginia (15-4 overall, 5-1 ACC).

Princeton women’s ice hockey matched up against Providence this weekend in a game that ended in a 2-2 tie in the second matchup of a two-game set at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers were first to put themselves on the board with a two-goal lead, but the Friars fought back hard to get the tie.

On Monday, the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll placed Princeton field hockey at No. 14. The Tigers also have earned a No. 11 spot in the Division I RPI rankings. These standings come after a 1-1 weekend for the Orange and Black with games against the Colombia Lions and the UConn Huskies.

The Princeton women’s field hockey team now stands with a 1-3 record for the season after losing to Penn State on Sunday, Sept. 10. Last year, the Tigers beat out the Nittany Lions 2-1 during first-round action of the NCAA Tournament at Field Hockey Complex in University Park. However, the Tigers were unable to break Penn State’s four-game winning streak this year, losing 2-0 at Bedford Field in Princeton, N.J.

For the first time in 12 years, the entire Princeton women’s golf team opened the NCAA regional tournament on Monday at the University of Georgia’s golf course in Athens, Ga. The Tigers’ spot in the competition was a result of earning the Ivy League's automatic bid after a 31-stroke victory over Harvard at the Ivy League Championships, which ended on April 23.

The largest track and field event in the nation occurred this weekend in Philadelphia, and it was an important one for Princeton women’s track and field. In the 4x800m relay, the Tigers recorded a time of 8:49.00, winning their race. This time was almost a full four seconds ahead of the rest of the field, with second-place Georgia Tech finishing with a time of 8:53.56.

The Princeton Women’s Lacrosse Team (11-3, 5-1 Ivy) caused Cornell (10-4, 5-1 Ivy) to drop its first Ivy League challenge of the season last Saturday afternoon, triumphing in a 12-11 double overtime win on Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, NY. The win gives the Tigers, the Big Red, and the Penn Quakers even records in the Ivy League and the chance for any one of them to clinch the Ivy League Title.
