The Tigers are leading Yale 24-14 at halftime. Princeton struck the first blow, recording a touchdown in the first quarter off a connection between senior quarterback Chad Kanoff and junior wide receiver Jesper Horsted. The Orange and Black would build on their advantage early in the second quarter as Kanoff completed an 18-yard pass to junior receiver Stephen Carlson, extending the lead to 14. However, the Bulldogs quickly responded, finding their way to the end-zone within the minute off a 47-yard rush from Zane Dudek. Both Princeton and Yale completed one more touchdown apiece, keeping the game tight. The Tigers are currently outgaining the Bulldogs 283 yards to 186 yards through the air and will look to build on their lead heading into the second half.

After a tough loss against Yale that ended its ten-game home winning streak, the women’s volleyball team has found its form again, winning its third straight game in the Ivy League. The Tigers swept both Columbia and Cornell, two teams the Orange and Black had struggled against earlier in the season. The crucial wins this past weekend once again put Princeton level with Yale at the top of the Ivy League table.

This past weekend, the women’s volleyball team travelled to Cornell and Columbia to complete the first half of its Ivy League competition. Despite entering the weekend with a perfect record, the Tigers stumbled against both the Bears and the Lions, knocking the Princeton team off the top spot in the Ivy League standings. They are now tied with Harvard for second.

The women’s volleyball team added to its winning streak in the Ivy League with another pair of wins over Dartmouth and Harvard that put it in the top spot of the Ancient Eight. The Tigers hosted Big Green on Friday and faced the Crimson for sole control of first place. The Princeton team, now 5-0 in conference play, will look to continue this momentum as it travels to Cornell and Columbia next week.

The Princeton women’s tennis team competed in the 20th annual Cissie Leary Invitational this weekend (Sept. 30-Oct. 2) at the University of Pennsylvania. In November 1996, the head women’s tennis coach at Penn, Cissie Leary, passed away after a long battle with scleroderma. Leary coached the Quakers to 16 winning seasons, compiling a career record of 229-119 from 1977-96. In her final spring coaching season in 1995, her team was 16-7 overall, 6-1 in the Ivy League and progressed to the NCAA East Regional. Beginning in 1997, this tournament has been held every year to honor her memory and legacy.

The women’s volleyball team finished the Villanova Tournament with a perfect record after completing a 3-1 comeback against the University of Connecticut. The Tigers, now 6-1, seem to have gathered momentum as they recorded their fifth straight win this past weekend. The team will undoubtedly be looking to carry this streak through the week as they look ahead to Ivy League play.

Cara Morey, who had been associate head coach of the women’s ice hockey team, has been promoted to head coach of the same team. She will replace Jeff Kampersal, who will take the head coach position at Penn State, his alma mater.

The women’s lacrosse team swept through Penn with a record-setting performance in the Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament. No. 6 Princeton managed to find the net 17 times, beating the Quakers by an impressive 17-8 margin. The Tigers will now face Cornell in the Ivy League Championship for an automatic NCAA bid. The Princeton team previously won the title in 2011 and 2015.

This Thursday, the tennis team held a fundraiser for junior Jacob Kaplan at the Lenz Tennis Center. Members of the community could play against varsity athletes in support of Kaplan’s fight against cancer. Participants were asked to donate $15 towards Kaplan’s cause.

In what would be a thrilling afternoon, the men’s lacrosse team fell just short as Cornell edged out the Princeton squad 18-17, despite a strong Princeton push late in the game. The Orange and Black will close the season tied with Brown for No. 2 in the Ivy League. The Tigers are scheduled to face Brown in the Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Tournament this Friday, May 5.

Two weekends ago, senior Alice Zheng, a member of Princeton’s Powerlifting Club, earned first place at the 2017 USAPL Collegiate Nationals. A veteran of the sport, Zheng took the top spot with an impressive performance, squatting 160 kg, benching 91 kg, and deadlifting 188 kg.

The Tigers swept Harvard to earn their fifth EIVA postseason spot in the last six years. The Tigers, currently fourth in the EIVA, will play first seed Penn State in the semifinals.

The women’s golf team opened this week with a third-place finish at the Hoya Invitational. The Tigers rallied from a slow start to grab bronze behind the University of South Florida and Georgetown who placed first and second respectively. The USF Bulls won the tournament at +35, beating the Bulldogs by 10 shots and the Tigers by 11.

The men’s volleyball team emerged from two devastating losses on Mar. 31 and Apr.1 with a renewed purpose as its postseason dreams were on the line this Saturday, Apr.8. The Tigers responded with a convincing 3-1 victory over reigning EIVA champions George Mason. The win boosted the Orange and Black into third in their conference.
