Maya Lin, the renowned designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., has been commissioned to create an installation on the grounds adjacent to the new Lewis Center for the Arts. In addition to providing an impressive setting for outdoor classes and performances, Lin’s work will serve as a landmark for visitors, students, and community members.

Members of Princeton Citizen Scientists attended the second and final round of negotiations at the United Nations General Assembly over an international treaty to prohibit nuclear weapons. The negotiations concluded with a vote and final text on July 7.

Margaret Wright ’17 has been named the recipient of this year’s Martin A. Dale ’53 Fellowship, which enables an outstanding senior to pursue an independent project that widens his or her experience of the world and significantly enhances his or her intellectual development. Wright will spend the next year traveling across the country, primarily on foot, to interview the people she meets along the way and create “listening poems” from the words and phrases they use.

University President Christopher Eisgruber ’83 has chosen “What Is Populism?” by politics professor Jan-Werner Müller for the Class of 2021’s Pre-read. Out of the five books in the Pre-read tradition, “What Is Populism?” is the second to be written by a University professor.

The Princeton Private Prison Divest Coalition held a demonstration outside of Alexander Hall on Thursday. The protest, which follows a PPPD walkout at a Council of the Princeton University Community meeting on March 27, was aimed at showing prospective freshmen that the University community is concerned about mass incarceration and anti-immigration polices, as well as reminding administrators that the coalition will continue to organize for full private prison divestment.

The inaugural edition of the “Princeton Undergraduate Research Journal” was distributed this week to the University community in residences and academic departments. Cofounded by editors-in-chief Yash Patel ’18 and Daniel Liu ’18, the journal aims to provide a wide audience for undergraduate independent work.

University has selected a potential campus site for a seventh residential
college, which will accommodate a planned increase of 125 students in each

Members of the Class of 2017 will be the first students to use Thesis Central, a newly created online system that allows seniors to upload their theses directly into the University’s digital archives. The site, which is the result of a collaborative effort between the University Archives, the Office of Information Technology, and the Office of the Dean of the College, was launched on Monday, March 27.

Professor of Religion AnneMarie Luijendijk and Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Clancy Rowley ’95 have been named the new heads of Wilson and Rockefeller Colleges. The professors were selected by Dean of Undergraduate Students Kathleen Deignan, Senior Associate Dean of the College Claire Fowler, and Dean of the College Jill Dolan through an application process open to all full professors, Dolan wrote in an email.

The First 100 Days: Collection & Creation Events, a nonpartisan initiative aimed at collecting, archiving, and exhibiting activism-related materials created after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, was held in the Women*s Center from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Fox News Channel senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano ’72 has been indefinitely sidelined from the network after making unverified claims that former President Barack Obama requested British intelligence wiretap Trump Tower. Napolitano has not spoken on the channel since March 16 and has been notably absent from the network’s coverage of hearings involving Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and FBI Director James Comey, according to the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times.

World trade policy can’t be advanced in the future without a stronger focus on workers displaced in an economically uncertain world, Michael B.G. Froman ’85, a retired ambassador and former U.S. Trade Representative under President Barack Obama, said in a lecture on Feb. 16. The lecture was a response to steps that President Trump has taken to change existing United States trade policy by withdrawing from the negotiation stage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Froman, one of the creators of the TPP, spoke about the implications of Trump's actions and elaborated on actions the US can take to maintain successful trade relations.
