In their fifth game of the season, the Princeton men’s soccer team lost to Saint Joseph’s 3–2 Tuesday night on Sherrerd Field. The game featured an action-packed first half and saw the two teams battling it out for the win in the second.

At the Princeton Invitational this past weekend, Princeton Men’s Water Polo played five games over the course of three days, notching wins against all but one opponent. In an interview with the ‘Prince’ following Saturday’s games, Head Coach Dustin Litvak pointed out that the Tigers only had “three days to train” in between their previous competitions and the start of this weekend’s invitational. “We had five games this weekend, so there was a short turn around.”

No. 13 Princeton field hockey (0–2 overall) fell 4–1 on Friday to No.1 University of North Carolina (2–2 overall) at the Tigers’ season opener. The last time the two teams competed against each other in 2019, the Tar Heels took home the NCAA trophy, defending their position as national champions.

Princeton University announced on Wednesday that John Mack ’00, a former captain of the men’s track and field team, will be the next Ford Family Director of Athletics. He will officially begin his tenure on Sept. 1.

Two members of the Princeton men’s track and field team represented their home countries in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Ed Trippas, a rising senior, competed for Australia in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sondre Guttormsen, a rising junior, competed for Norway in pole vault. Neither athlete advanced to the finals, but both are set to return to campus this fall.

The women’s rugby team will be promoted to the varsity level in the 2022–23 academic year, according to a recent Athletics Department email and public announcement. The new varsity status would allow the team greater access to facilities, fields, coaching, and equipment — as well as support travel costs and other expenses — needed to compete at a higher intercollegiate level.

As the academic year comes to a close, the Princeton rowing teams are reaching the apices of their seasons. Like most other sports at the University, the rowing teams were unable to compete throughout the year and could only practice in a limited capacity starting this semester.
