Words are everywhere on Princeton's campus. Beyond the obvious posters and class readings, we are surrounded by inscriptions and dedications carved onto buildings, signs dictating rules both helpful and prohibitive and graffiti etched into trees, on buildings or carved into desks during classes. Generally we don't take a closer look, but apart from the most eye-catching ads, more subtle wordsmiths abound, leaving their marks on the University.
