Spring is here - which means it's time to break out some light alternative rock from the 1990s.

Kick it off with Tonic's "If You Could Only See" - full of energy and passion, this song starts off the playlist right.

Next, embrace the soulful but relaxed melancholy of Soul Asylum's "Runaway Train."

Gin Blossoms' "Till I Heard it From You" offers a more upbeat take on the Soul Asylum model.

Third Eye Blind's "Jumper" is quintessential 90s rock, while still melancholy, its positive message overcomes the dark subject matter.

Everclear's "Father of Mine" is another 90s classic.

Next, embrace the happiness of Toad the Wet Sprocket's "All I Want" - to be counterpointed by the introspective "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M.

1998 saw the release of Eve 6's "Inside Out," a very humorous and catchy example of 1990s pop rock.

Fastball's "The Way" is an oft-forgotten one-hit wonder.

The Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" was another 1998 hit, creating a sound that the Goo Goo Dolls truly developed for their 2006 album, "Let Love In."

Finish the playlist off with Third Eye Blind's "How's It Going toBe," which offers a less-overplayed take on the same themes that the more famous Green Day "Good Riddance [Time of Your Life]" addresses.
