The University has been ranked fourth in finance, fourth in software developers at startups and fifth in software development by LinkedIn University Rankings, which ranks universities in various professional fields based on the level of career success attained by alumni of those universities.
The University was topped in the finance rankings by the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and Georgetown University, in the software developers list by Carnegie Mellon University, California Institute of Technology, Cornell University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in the software developers at startups list by Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brown University. The University did not appear in LinkedIn University's top five schools for investment bankers.
According to the description on its website, LinkedIn determines top schools in various fields by identifying top companies based on hiring and retention rates in each industry. LinkedIn then finds graduates who work in each of the different fields and finds where they went to school. For each school, LinkedIn calculates the percent of the alumni that have jobs at these top companies and compares these percentages to create the final list.
