Graduate student allegedly robbed near E-Quad

A graduate student was allegedly robbed and held in a choke hold by two suspects on Maple Street on Monday around 9:20 p.m., according to a Campus Safety Alert sent to University students and staff around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Maple Street is located off-campus north of the Engineering Quadrangle, which is in the northeast corner of campus. The area is under the jurisdiction of the Princeton Police Department. The suspects allegedly came up from behind the student. One held the student in a choke hold and demanded money; the suspects also took the student’s cell phone from his pants pocket. The suspects were both described as black males around 5’ 11’’ and in their 20s. One of them apparently wore a black T-shirt, and the other a white T-shirt. Earlier this year, a Princeton town resident was allegedly assaulted with a baseball bat near the cemetery behind St. Paul’s Church by two men wearing ski masks. Last June, a couple was allegedly robbed near the Engineering Quadrangle after a stun gun threat. Two suspects were arrested in that case soon afterwards.
