News & Notes: Man charged with defiant trespass on campus

A man was arrested and charged with defiant trespass and obstruction of justice on Sunday evening at the Woolworth Center for Musical Studies.

The Department of Public Safety received a report of an individual, who allegedly did not look like a student, at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to University Spokesperson Martin Mbugua. The man, Albert Louis, 31, a resident of Trenton, N.J., was already under a persona non grata, which usually bars individuals from campus for 90 days, Mbugua said. Louis' PNG had been issued in January and had not yet expired, he explained.

Louis was charged with defiant trespass for allegedly coming on to campus despite the PNG. He was also charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly providing a fake name when DPS officers asked for his identity. He was arrested at the scene and issued a summons, Mbugua said.
