The University will test the Princeton Telephone and Email Notification System and the blue-light tower emergency broadcasting system this Friday.
The announcement, which was sent to all undergraduates on Monday, comes a week after a report of gunshots in Nassau Hall prompted a major police response and an order to clear the area around the building. PTENS messages were sent to the University community during the incident through texts, emails and phone calls, but the blue-light towers were not used to broadcast messages.
The blue-light towers wereinstalled in the summer of 2012and allow the University to broadcast emergency notifications to individuals unaffiliated with the University community who may be on campus. These individuals would not otherwise receive PTENS messages in the case of a campus emergency.
The University last tested its notification systems in April.
