Six students were transported to McCosh Health Center and the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro due to alcohol consumption this weekend.

Three students were taken to McCosh while three were transported to UMCP, according to information provided by the Department of Public Safety. Five of the six students were under the age of 21.

This weekend represents what has traditionally been a spike in the number of students hospitalized for excessive alcohol intake that generally occurs during the weekend of eating club pickups and initiations. This year’s transport numbers are lower than last year’s, when six students were taken to McCosh and four to UMCP. In 2011, three students were taken to McCosh and eight to UMCP.

During the eating club initiations weekend of 2010, five students required medical transport; three were taken to McCosh and two to UMCP. In 2009, 16 students required medical transport during the same weekend; five were taken to McCosh while 11 were taken to UMCP.
