News & Notes: Colleges to pilot residential community program
Mathey and Whitman Colleges will pilot two residential community programs in the 2013-14 academic year centered on the Creative Arts and Humanities or Civic Engagement, respectively.
Wilson College Dean Lisa Herschbach sent an email to Wilson sophomores and juniors on Sunday informing them of the opportunity.
The projects will aim to build a community of students with similar interests and to facilitate inter-class mentorship and campus leadership in the arts and public service.
Members of these communities will live in adjacent rooms in designated residence halls within these colleges under the mentorship of graduate students, faculty and alumni in related fields. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in cultural and civic activities off campus.
The Creative Arts and Humanities community will work closely with the Council for the Humanities and the Lewis Center for the Arts, while the Civic Engagement community will be linked to the Pace Center.
