Ricky Gill' 09, the 25-year-old Republican who raised more than $2 million in his race for Congress in California, narrowly lost to the incumbent Democrat Tuesday. The race was too close to call as of early Wednesday morning.

Gill had earned 46 percent of the vote in California’s 9th Congressional District, which covers the city of Stockton and the state’s central valley, with 79 percent of results reported. Gill’s late momentum and cash were not enough to unseat three-term incumbent Democrat Jerry McNerney.

At Princeton, Gill concentrated in the Wilson School and described himself as “very serious about academics.”
