Aaron - it seems that you interaction was not with the simple people the people that represent the masses. You write " While based briefly in Dubai" – what is briefly – a day – a week? Based in a 5* hotel? You met with the élite those who are in the race for money and power. These are the people that caused the out break of the Arab Spring! These are the people who are corrupt and detached from their people. The ones who hang around hotels and the expensive shopping mall of Dubai and spend on a meal more then their country man makes in a year of hard labor. The Arab Spring has shown the world that the agenda of the people is different and that westerners like you really don't understand what is really going on in the Middle East! You and me and most of us here at Princeton live in LaLa Land – we may seem to be smart but in publishing such an assessment you have just proven to us all that we really aren't.
I see a Thomas Friedman in the making...
