Next year 13 students in Wilson College will be able to sleep, eat and study without ever stepping foot outside of their dorm building — Wilcox Hall.

The Housing Office recently announced that the third floor of Wilcox will be converted ...

Wilcox was student housing for 40+ years -- it had around 20 students. The major drawback was the men's bathroom -- it has a weird shower room where you have to parade naked by your hallmates. It also has a unique feature: if you leave a wrench outside, and you lock yourself out, you can climb up to the stepped back roof, grab the wrench, disassemble the window (2 bolts) and get back inside.

It does create a rather isolating freshman year experience though.

Am I the only one that thinks that the University needs to stop converting space and just man up and build a new dorm or convert a whole building? I realize we just did it but if they keep expanding class sizes then they are going to run into a wall eventually....

Between this and the graduate housing situation, what is the problem in the University's Housing Office? Prince, launch an investigation! This office seems hopelessly disorganized and students' housing is at stake!

Is this a joke? They took away all the study lounges, the game room, and seminar rooms? Where the hell are we supposed to study if we don't want to be in our room? Thanks, housing department. You prove year after year that you are by far the most inept department on this campus. Between lockout policies, new door locks, absurd waitlist/room improvement policies, I honestly don't see what they could pull next.

    Sympathy for Housing

I actually feel bad for Housing. They had a whole plan set up to get everyone off the wait list, and then Admissions goes and accepts a buttload of extra frosh than it had planned.

This housing problem was caused by Admissions, plain and simple. Housing is just stuck cleaning up the pieces.

Am I the only one who thinks 3rd floor of Wilcox is really sketchy?

I lived in Wilcox sophomore year. My best dorm room in 4 years. I would have stayed there if I hadn't joined a club.
