This is by far the best and most accurate thing that the Edits Board has ever written. The timing of these exams is absolutely horrid....
lovely double entendre, Prince board:
"let seniors end their undergraduate careers on a high note both inside and outside the classroom"
Actually, the anthropology comp is a six-page paper to be completed in any amount of time between 9am Wednesday and 11:59pm Thursday. It is not a one-hour exam with 36 hours to complete.
Agree with this piece so, so hard. While the time management failure is completely my fault, I have worked diligently for the past week--on dean's date papers--and will most likely not have time to study for comps. I consider myself a pretty responsible and hardworking person overall.
if that's true it's the first year it has taken that form. from '07-'11 and likely longer, it was the shorter format.
Psych comps happened last week, didn't they? So, which departments does this actually affect?
let's be real, what you mean is that the anthropology comps are a joke.
if it takes you longer than an hour to write 6 pages you need to retake your writing seminar
