"It gets better.” The simple three-word phrase forms the inspiration for an eponymous nationwide online video movement to offer hope to struggling and scared lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
In a recent YouTube video, eight openly LGBT University students ...

why isn't there a chastity center? i know plenty of students who struggle with the pressures of having sex at college. these kids have respect for themselves and for the dignity of others, and yet the university would rather promote promiscuity by encouraging students to use each other as sexual objects than teach kids how to be sexually responsible human beings. gays comprise less than 5% of the university population. why the hell should they get preferential treatment?
Despite the disgusting comment above, the LGBT Center at Princeton is doing a phenomenal job. What a terrific video. Keep up the great work!
Why should they get preferential treatment? Why, because it coheres with liberal ideology, of course. Contrary to the post above, however, we should be acting in the interests of humans, not humanism. Liberalism is false consciousness.
three cheers to the kids in the video. yes, it does get better, if you gain the confidence to make the right choices to ensure it will.
in response to the "in the interest of fairness" chastity center comment, i think that's a fine idea, if there indeed are students who want to be chaste and need a place to come together to discuss it and get support. that said, it seems your comment was a bit disingenuous, as the issue is not really related to this LGBT article whatsoever, and your statements that the university encourages promiscuity are blatantly false. why are you equating homosexuality with promiscuity? there's plenty of straight people who are promiscuous, and plenty of gay people who are monogamous or even chaste!
if what you say is true about chaste homosexuals, then why does the lgbt center distribute free condoms? i'll tell you why, because they're encouraging gay sex.
this is a beautiful piece of journalism, bravo mr. chang.

The condoms in the LGBT center are for everyone and for all uses and purposes. Gay sex, straight sex, lesbian sex, missionary style, balloons, christmas ornaments, etc etc
Oh dear, the same old sexual objectification comments are coming out of the woodwork. I'm really getting tired of the (I'm presuming in this case) Catholic OR postmodern feminist critique of sex for pleasure because it "objectifies" the body. I think distinguishing between "emotional" and "physical" sex is a bit obscure and have yet to see anyone explain it adequately. They just scream "don't debase yourself by using your bodies in that certain way!" as if we were not lowly animals as well as (sometimes) lofty thinkers. Accept sex and your body and move on.
Sidenote - RCAs and SHARE also give out condoms. I don't see what the issue with the lgbt center doing the same is
Beyond all this partisan crap though, i just want to give a large shoutout and congrats to those involved in the video and the article. Both are extraordinary, and I really think will inspire those individuals that need the help and moral support (however indirectly) that the video (and article) provide. I can't imagine that everyone had an easy time with the decision to participate, and I hope that these individuals know that (many of) the rest of us admire and thank their bravery and courage
@PC: Thank you. Exactly.
