    Sure hope there is a similar retirement plan offered for administrators. I can think of at least one I'd nominate.

    Umm, this article doesn't address the real problem with faculty hiring, which is that too many assistant professors never obtain tenure-track positions. Hiring even more of these asst. professors while getting rid of senior faculty stinks of the kind of life-ruining cost-cutting going on at lesser institutions already, where adjuncts teach most courses.

    The Asst Prof rank is a tenure track position. It's the entry-level rank on the tenure track. Do you mean to say that too many Assistant Prof never obtain tenured positions (i.e. Associate Prof.)?

    Yes, I just think that any time you replace tenured faculty with those who may not obtain tenure, the interests of students and faculty have not been served.
