Becky, your cartoons are reliably fantastic.
haha this is so true
this is silly. maybe some people could find it funny, i don't. i think college girls have more important things to 'freak out' about than some of the things mentioned in this cartoon.
so what if it is silly? it's good silly, it makes us laugh, and we move on. it's not a definition of college girls' minds.
The point is that girls freak out over silly things. This cartoon doesn't say they SHOULD. In fact, it points out how ridiculous they are.
so true, so true!
"Friend gets knocked up"
"The point is that girls freak out over silly things. This cartoon doesn't say they SHOULD. In fact, it points out how ridiculous they are."
oh girls are just so ridiculous. yeah. all of them. so silly. silly little girls who freak out over silly things.
Clearly a lot of the people posting here are girls and so I gather that no one is saying girls are silly as a general rule. I don't think I (a girl) "freak out" about most of these things, but I got a chuckle out of it. Don't get too worked up, it's supposed to be a joke!
This cartoon seems to imply that "college girls" care more about their friend's romantic lives than their own schoolwork. I don't think this is accurate, and it's also pretty insulting. We all go to a school where the students - male and female - seem to take their studies pretty seriously, especially independent work.
Maybe you'll argue that this is just a joke, but right now I don't understand the joke, or find it funny.
There might be something funny underneath all this -- maybe instead of "freak out" the author meant "screams," and then something like this might be humorous:
Moments a Woman will Scream in her Life
Writing her JP
Writing her Thesis
Giving Birth
But the use of a graph here basically says, "College girls freak out more when their friend has a baby omg than when they're being students." That's a really gross generalization, and it's being made by a first-year student who has not written a word of a thesis and has probably never had a friend have a child.
Sorry this isn't terribly articulate, I'm just really trying to wrap my head around what the author was trying to say, and just hoping there some inside joke I just don't get.
