Warming warnings exaggerated, physics professors claim

Two Princeton physics professors are leading a campaign for the withdrawal of the 2007 statement of the American Physical Society (APS), which claims that the evidence for global warming represents an immediate national emergency.

I agree especially with the last part.
If people are unable to identify objective values and the virtues by which they are achieved and maintained, the vacuum is filled with religion.
People have to not only know what's good, but also be able to say it so they know they know.

“Many Europeans, as well as leftists in America,” Dr. [Lee M. Silver, a molecular biologist at Princeton] says, “have rejected the traditional Christian God and replaced it with a post-Christian goddess of Mother Nature and a modified Christian eschatology. It isn’t a coherent belief system. It might or might not incorporate New Age thinking. But deep down, there’s a view that humans shouldn’t be tampering with the natural world.”

Some people mistakenly believe that we’ve entered an “Age of Reason” in which people have thrown off the shackles of superstitious beliefs and now embrace logic and science.

But that is not what’s happening. Belief in religion is apparently something that’s genetically programmed into the human brain. Christianity may be dying, but it’s being replaced by a new post-Christian Mother Nature worship religion. Like previous religions, the post-Christian Mother Nature worshippers have creation myths and dietary restrictions. They have an end-of-the-world myth involving global warming. They have prophets such as Al Gore and Barack Obama.

What post-Christian Mother Nature worship lacks is a formal name, and formal religious rituals. But therein lies its greatest danger to those who believe in the separation of church and state. Post-Christian Mother Nature worship is not yet recognized as a religion, and thus is able to circumvent the Constitution’s Establishment Clause and become the official state religion. It will use the power of the state to evangelize its beliefs and punish the unbelievers. This religion already has the power to punish people who question the egalitarian creation myth that all races and both sexes have exactly equal mental capabilities. Soon it will also be able to punish people who question global warming.

hacked e-mails revealed collusion among certain prominent climatologists in manipulating data to overstate the human influence on climate change

Excuse me? Where in heaven's name did that come from? What emails said that? Cite them!

This story is turning into a game of "Gossip" or "Rumors," with the story getting wilder and wilder as time goes on.

Climate FRAUD has come home to ROOST. The relation between CO2 and temps has been lied about and obscured. Ask what you can do to restore the scientific principle, accept no less than PROOF and Repeatability.
Gusher of LIES (book)is a good place to start and arm yourself against the next BIG LIE:>> energy independence.

    Dave McK:

All valuations are subjective from person to person; that's how life (and the economy) works.

Pollution can be controlled through strict enforcement of property rights (which is how the American Indians did it).

how do you know a scientist is lying? Their lips are moving. How many scientists does it take to change a light bulb...depending on how much the federal grant is. What is the difference between a lawyer, used car salesman and a scientist? shoes

    Get It Right

This article is absolutely the worst piece of reporting I've ever seen on the Prince. Jonathan, did it never occur to you to look at sources OTHER than simply what Profs. Happer and Austin say? They have been climate deniers for years, and will come up with any argument to advance their predetermined view that dangerous human-caused climate change is not occurring and won't be an issue. Your statement "The “Climategate” scandal, in which hacked e-mails revealed collusion among certain prominent climatologists in manipulating data to overstate the human influence on climate change" is patently false. The controversy over the hacked emails has been drummed up by those like Happer; if you actually read the statements at issue in an objective way, they in no way indicate collusion among the East Anglia scientists. AND, furthermore, even in the event that their data WERE suspect because of anything in those emails, the conclusion of the American Geophysical Society is based on a much larger body of data and multiple data sets - which do in fact corroborate the results obtained by East Anglia - and thus remain valid. This is not an international scientific fraud, and this in no way calls into question the validity of AGS statement or the reality of climate change. Jonathan, learn to report more than a load of biased bunk.

Plain and simple: nobody has any right to implement a policy that restricts my rights.

When you talk about policy changes, you mean forcing me to have my life run by a bureaucracy.

"He added that carbon dioxide, the gas often linked to damage in the ozone layer"

The ozone layer has nothing to do with climate change, and CO2 doesn't deplete the ozone layer either. This author clearly doesn't even understand the the most basic fundamentals of climate change science.
